Keith Wright, M.D.

Described by his patients as a highly skilled surgeon who pays great attention to detail and has a warm, sensitive bedside manner, Dr. Wright is recognized as one of the nation’s leaders in minimally invasive bariatric surgery.

In practice in San Antonio since 2001, Dr. Wright founded South Texas Surgeons, PA, with Gerardo Cárcamo M.D., in 2003, now recognized as San Antonio's most well-established weight loss surgery practice. Having performed more than 10,000 successful weight loss procedures, the practice has been used as a model for training bariatric surgeons, not only in surgical techniques but also in postoperative and nutritional care.

Dr. Wright graduated with high honors from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and completed his surgical training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, with additional training through Ohio State and Duke Universities. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the following groups:

  • American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery

  • Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons

  • Texas Medical Association

  • Bexar County Medical Society

  • Parkland Surgical Society

Dr. Wright provides gastric bypass, gastric sleeve, Lap-Band, single-anastomosis loop duodenal switch, and revisional surgery and performed the first vBloc and intragastric balloon procedures in San Antonio with Dr. Cárcamo. He also provides revisional surgery when necessary as well as aftercare for patients who had bariatric procedures performed at other facilities, including all True Results patients.

As a consultant for Apollo Endosurgery, Inc., Dr. Wright provided valuable insight on current surgical techniques and new product development for weight loss surgery. He has also been a member of the Allergan faculty, involved in training new bariatric surgeons and currently works with Medtronic in training and proctoring surgeons for the single-anastomosis loop duodenal switch (SADI-S).
