Emily Sansom, Dietitian

Emily is thrilled to share her knowledge of nutrition and wellness with all patients who walk through our doors.

Since 2015, Emily has offered our patients individual sessions and classes covering an extensive variety of topics, such as healthy eating behaviors, creating nutritious plates, and making smart choices when dining out or grocery shopping. She also provides postoperative diet and lifestyle guidelines, such as daily protein and fluid requirements, as well as required vitamin and mineral supplementation.

“Pre and postoperative nutrition counseling is vital to the success of your weight loss journey. Although we may know what it means to eat healthy, it is always a challenge to incorporate that knowledge into our daily lifestyles…and that is what I am here for.”

Emily received a BS in Nutrition from The University of Texas at Austin, and is a registered dietician. Her other credentials include:

  • Member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

  • Texas WIC Dietetic Internship

Prior to joining South Texas Surgeons, she provided nutrition counseling for six years at the San Antonio Women, Infant and Children’s program.

Emily enjoys connecting with past and present patients on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest, and facilitates monthly support groups to keep patients comfortable and happy with their new lifestyles.

Emily sees patients at the CHRISTUS Westover Hills Medical Plaza 2.
